Americans battled through a recession, corporate scandals, and terrorist attacks, strengthened by the small business owner, the entrepreneur, and the hard work of every-day laborers, we battled through it to now have a very low and favorable unemployment rate, the highest home-ownership of all-time, and still-low interest rates. And well-timed tax cuts also helped. We need to keep the tax cuts permanent. More importantly though, we need to eliminate the federal income tax as a whole, which summons one issue for which I am already working very hard for the American people – replacing the federal income tax with a national retail sales tax.
Let’s say you make $3,000.00 a month in gross income. Basically, you are already giving away at least $450 to federal income tax per month (not including the payroll tax, which is Social Security and Medicare). The federal government is getting your hard-earned money before you are. That’s $5,400.00 per year. What would you do with that extra money when it is given to you as a gross check instead of net pay? What will you do when you do not have to file any paperwork due for April 15th? This is a major part of my promise.
We need to replace the federal income tax with a federal national sales tax on new consumer goods and certain used goods of between 15 to 23 percent. This will make the tax system fair for everyone regardless of income. This will take the burden off businesses to comply with the bureaucratic Tax Code known as the Internal Revenue Service. This will keep the government from spying on you and checking how much money you made year-to-date. Why should the government have to know how much money you, as a consumer, made last year and year-to-date? Please study this initiative carefully: both sides. You will see the clear truth. It is the right thing to do. Follow my lead for this District to support my work to defeat the federal income tax. I am working with Congressmen, Senators, and economists to determine how exactly to ease our Nation out of a federal income tax and into a fair tax for everyone.
Did you know that corporations match your Social Security taxes when you pay them? Did you know that corporations immediately pay taxes when you get paid? That is called a double tax. That is very burdensome on self-employed individuals or owners of small corporations because the owners get taxed when they pay themselves and their corporation, which they own. That is another reason why we need to cease the federal income tax as we know it. And it’s interesting to me that federal income taxes were less than five percent nearly 100 years ago. Government is way too large.
Outside of my proposals to replace the income tax, we are still where we are today and the implementation of my tax promise will take time. Thus, in the mean time, we must discuss ways to make the current Tax Code easier to understand. We must limit federal taxes across the board and even lower taxes. I also see nothing wrong with the elimination of the death tax, whereby the government gets to take a certain portion of a person’s wealth when they die. There is no reason for government to keep chasing you for your money, as they are already draining it from you before you receive your paycheck.
Also, prices at the gas pump have burdened many Americans as well as the prices for gas at home. We must work to limit our dependence on foreign sources of energy. Although there are some companies that are making breakthroughs to lessen our dependence on foreign sources of energy, we need to do more. I am working on this with fellow citizens, corporate executives, and elected officials. Government’s role is to govern: not to limit. We need to allow corporations and citizens to do what is in our best interests.
I am encouraged by interest rates being near all-time lows, which makes this a buyers market. I am encouraged that I, last November, was able to say, “Welcome to my home.” Instead of giving my money away in rent, I now own something. This pushes our economy when more Americans own something. The American economy has a bright and prosperous future, so long as we keep our homeland safe.
